The Jatiya Sangsad will sit twice a day from Tuesday to speed up the passage of bills required to convert 133 ordinances into law and meet constitutional obligations.
The decision was announced in Parliament on Monday.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam told the House that the additional sittings were necessary to complete the large volume of legislative work within the required timeframe.
Under the revised schedule, the first sitting will begin at 10:30am and the second at 3:30pm each day.
He also said Thursday’s Private Members’ Day has been cancelled to give priority to the disposal of the pending bills.
Preparations have also been made to hold a Friday sitting if needed to complete the legislative process.
