One held with 89,400 yaba tablets in Cox's Bazar
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today arrested a man and seized 89,400 yaba tablets, a private car and a smartphone during an anti-narcotics operation in Cox's Bazar.
A search team of the Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) conducted the drive at Rezukhali checkpost on the Mini Bandarban Road around 1:00 am, said a press release this afternoon.
During a search of a private car, the team recovered the Burmese yaba tablets concealed underneath the vehicle and arrested passenger Md Erfan, 30.
The detainee is the son of the late Md Abdul Chhamad of Dakshin Muhuripara Link Road area under Cox's Bazar Sadar.
Three other suspects - Md Kader, 45 and Md Kamal, 40, both from Sabran Sikdar area of Teknaf and Md Monsur, 55, of Purba Goalia Palang area in Ramu - remained absconding, the release said.
The process of handing over the arrested man and the seized items to the police is underway, reports BSS.
The battalion commander, Lt Col SM Khairul Alam, said BGB remains committed to preventing narcotics and smuggling alongside its border security duties, adding that such operations would continue, the release added.
