Woman held with 10,000 yaba pills in Bagerhat

The Department of Narcotics Control arrested a woman with 10,000 yaba pills worth around Tk 30 lakh in Bagerhat today.


The woman, Nurjahan Begum, 46, of Baichakathi (Pashchimpara) area in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur, was arrested from an area near Barkat Filling Station on the Bagerhat-Pirojpur highway in the afternoon.

Sheikh Mizanur Rahman, deputy director of the Department of Narcotics Control in Bagerhat, said a team searched Nurjahan's vanity bag during the operation and recovered 50 blue zippered packets containing orange-coloured yaba pills.

Each packet contained 200 pills, bringing the total to 10,000 pills weighing about one kilogram. The estimated market value of the seized yaba is Tk 30 lakh, according to the department, reports BSS.

A case has been filed against her under the Narcotics Control Act, he said.
