3 more suspected measles deaths reported

Three more children have died from suspected measles across the country over the past 24 hours, while 1,080 new measles cases were recorded during the same period, according to a press release issued today by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).


According to the release, the number of suspected measles patients reported during the past 24 hours stood at 967, bringing the total number of suspected measles cases to 131,050 from March 15 to Aug 3.

During the past 24 hours, 113 measles cases were laboratory confirmed. The total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 16,408 since March 15.

From March 15 to Aug 3, a total of 113,528 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. During the same period, 109,189 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Three children died from suspected measles during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from suspected measles among children to 751 since March 15, reports BSS.

No deaths from confirmed measles were reported during the past 24 hours. From March 15 to Aug 3, a total of 96 deaths from confirmed measles have been recorded.
