Three individuals, including a bulkhead worker, were injured in a shooting incident involving a gang of robbers in Shariatpur. One of the victims, critically wounded, has been transferred to Dhaka for further treatment.

The incident took place around 10:00 PM on Friday, February 28, in the Angaria area of Shariatpur Sadar Upazila.

According to local sources and police, a group of robbers arrived by speedboat in Angaria. Upon realizing the situation, locals attempted to stop them, leading the robbers to open fire indiscriminately, injuring three people.

As the news of the robbery spread, locals took action to block the robbers' escape route by using a bulkhead to block the river at the Rajganj area. During the escape attempt, the robbers abandoned their speedboat, and five of them were captured by the locals. The mob then beat the robbers before they were handed over to the authorities. The injured robbers are receiving medical treatment at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.

The victims of the gunfire have been identified as Tota Mia (35), son of Dalil Uddin from Domsar Molla Kandi in Palong, Shariatpur; Masum Mia (30), a bulkhead worker and son of Joynal Mia from Bhandaria, Pirojpur; and Alamin (19), also a bulkhead worker and son of Anis Fakir from Kalikathi, Nazirpur, Pirojpur.

After the incident, the injured were first taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for immediate care. Masum Mia was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) for more advanced treatment.

Regarding the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Helal Uddin of Palong Model Police Station stated, "With the assistance of the local community, we have apprehended five members of the robbery gang. They are currently under treatment at the Sadar Hospital. Some locals were also injured during the confrontation. Legal action is being taken."
