Two students killed in Kushtia road crash

Two teenage students were killed and another was injured when their motorcycle lost control and crashed into an electricity pole at Daulatpur upazila of the district on Saturday morning.


All three were class seven students of Daulatkhali Secondary School.

The deceased were identified as Rahmat, 14, son of Hekmat, and Sahabi, 14, son of Aminul Islam, residents of Daulatkhali Chauhaddipara village.

Police said the accident occurred around 8:30 am at the Daulatkhali Madrasa intersection area, students were returning home from private lessons, when the motorcycle rammed into a roadside electricity pole due to excessive speed.

Locals rescued the victims and took them to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared Rahmat and Sahabi dead on arrival.

Saif Ali, 14, who sustained serious injuries, was later shifted to Kushtia General Hospital for advanced treatment, reports BSS.

Officer-in-Charge of Daulatpur Police Station Md Arifur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying legal action is underway.
