Two workers die from electrocution in Sylhet

Two construction workers, including a woman, died after being electrocuted while working near an excavator in Daripoton of Golapganj upazila in Sylhet district on Friday.


The deceased were identified as Jharna Begum, 40, of Netrakona district, and Abdur Rahman, 45, of Sunamganj district.

Ariful Islam, officer-in-charge of Golapganj Police Station, said the excavator, which was being used for earth excavation, came into contact with an overhead live power line, causing it to become electrically charged.

Jharna Begum and Abdur Rahman came into contact with the excavator while standing beside it and died on the spot, reports UNB.

On information, police recovered the bodies.
