A passenger aircraft crashed in northern Colombia on Wednesday, killing all 15 people aboard, according to confirmation from state-owned airline Satena.

The airline said the Beechcraft 1900 plane was involved in a “fatal accident,” without providing further details, reports BBC.

The wreckage was later found in a mountainous area.

The official passenger manifest included congressman Diógenes Quintero Amaya as well as Carlos Salcedo, a candidate in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Satena earlier reported that communication with the aircraft was lost 11 minutes before its scheduled arrival in the city of Ocaña, near the Venezuelan border, at 12:05 pm local time, reports UNB.
