Two children drown in Natore pond

The deceased were identified as two-and-half-year-old Sheuly Khatun, daughter of Serajul Huq, and Afia Khatun, 2, daughter of Anarul Islam, of the village.

According to police and locals, the two children were playing near their home around 12:00pm when they slipped into the nearby pond unnoticed.

After a search, family members rescued them from the water and rushed them to the neighbouring Bagha Upazila Health Complex in Rajshahi, where attending doctors declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam of Lalpur Police Station said the bodies had been handed over to their families without autopsies, reports UNB.
