Launched on July 17, 2014 with its inaugural flight on Dhaka-Jashore route using a Dash 8-Q400 aircraft, the airline now operates a fleet of 24 aircraft, including two Airbus 330-300s and nine Boeing 737-800s, said a press release issued by the airlines today.
It currently flies to 20 domestic and international destinations, maintaining a record of over 90 percent on-time performance since inception.
In the domestic sector, US-Bangla connects Dhaka with Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Jashore, Saidpur, and Rajshahi, while its international routes include Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and Guangzhou.
Building on its regional connectivity, US-Bangla plans to expand its fleet with another Airbus 330-300 soon, with a strategic plan to commence flights to London and Rome by 2026, and to New York and Toronto by 2028, further enhancing Bangladesh’s global connectivity.
US-Bangla Managing Director Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mamun, marking the anniversary, said the airline remains committed to meeting competitive challenges while ensuring quality passenger services with modern aircraft.
“US-Bangla is proud to be a part of the country’s economic journey and to contribute by creating employment and earning foreign currency,” he said.
With nearly 3,000 employees at home and abroad, US-Bangla is contributing to job creation while playing a role in the aviation sector’s growth by paying regular taxes and surcharges, the airline noted.
The airline has received recognition for its service excellence, securing the ‘Best Domestic Airline’ award in 2024, marking a hat-trick following wins in 2022 and 2023, in addition to its first win in 2015.
Since its establishment, US-Bangla has pioneered several initiatives in Bangladesh’s aviation industry, including being the first domestic airline to operate direct flights to destinations such as China, Chennai in India, and Male in the Maldives.
The airline has also introduced a 15-minute baggage delivery service for international flights, reinforcing its commitment to passenger convenience under the motto: “You don’t wait for your luggage; your luggage will wait for you.”
Beyond passenger transport, US-Bangla is engaged in cargo operations across domestic and international routes and actively contributes to the development of education, sports, and social initiatives in Bangladesh.
Expressing gratitude on the occasion, Al-Mamun thanked government and private agencies, travel agents, tour operators, civil aviation authorities, corporate partners, and media professionals for their support in US-Bangla’s journey.
US-Bangla facilitates ticket purchases through its website, mobile app, over 40 sales offices, and a network of travel agencies. The airline also offers its ‘Skystar’ program for frequent flyers to enhance customer loyalty, reports BSS.
