Sylhet, famed for its scenic beauty and spiritual heritage, is set to welcome around 15 lakh tourists during the upcoming Eid holidays, with hotels and resorts already nearing full occupancy.
The district, known for its lush tea gardens, rolling hills, and sacred shrines, has become a prime destination for holidaymakers. Visitors are expected to flock to popular attractions such as Jaflong, Sada Pathor, Lalakhal, Ratargul Swamp Forest, Bichnakandi, and Madhabkunda Waterfall, among others.
Other notable destinations include Jaintia Rajbari, Bir Haor, Lovachara, and the tri-river confluence of Surma, Kushiyara, and Barak Mohana in Zakiganj. Sylhet’s rich cultural and historical landmarks, such as Kin Bridge, Ali Amjad’s Clock, Chandni Ghat, and the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA), further enhance its appeal.
In preparation for the surge of visitors, local authorities have completed clean-up and beautification initiatives at major tourist spots to ensure a pleasant experience.
Tourism Boom & Business Optimism

Faiz Hasan Ferdaus, Acting President of the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that the extended holiday and India’s visa service suspension could lead to even higher tourist numbers. "About 60-70% of accommodations are already reserved, signaling strong business prospects," he added.
Favorable Weather & Enhanced Security
Shah Md. Sajib Hossain, Assistant Meteorologist at the Sylhet Meteorological Office, forecasted clear skies and temperatures between 35-36°C during Eid week, creating ideal conditions for travel.
To ensure safety, local authorities have stepped up security measures across key tourist sites. Ratan Kumar Adhikari, UNO of Gowainghat, emphasized that Jaflong’s improved infrastructure will make travel more convenient.
Azizunnahar, UNO of Companiganj, highlighted collaborative efforts between tourist police, local law enforcement, and the BGB to prevent harassment. "We’ve held awareness meetings with transport operators and vendors to ensure a hassle-free experience," she said.
Golam Dastagir Ahmed, Tourist Police Inspector, assured that both uniformed and plainclothes officers will be deployed to monitor key areas. Md. Anwar Uz Zaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet, reiterated the administration's commitment to tourist safety with enhanced coordination among law enforcement agencies.
