A violent clash broke out between Awami League (AL) and BNP supporters over the chanting of the "Joy Bangla" slogan after Eid prayers in Lalpur, Natore, on the morning of March 31. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the Ramakrishnapur Eidgah ground, leaving one person, Sabbir Hossain, injured by a bullet.

According to locals, after the morning Eid prayers, workers from Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League began chanting the slogan, which angered BNP supporters and local residents. The situation quickly escalated as BNP workers and locals chased AL members, who retaliated by throwing bricks and wielding sticks. Several rounds of blank shots were exchanged between the two sides, intensifying the conflict.

Sabbir Hossain was injured during the confrontation and was taken to the Lalpur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Haque explained that the trouble began when a young man shouted "Joy Bangla" after the prayers, provoking a reaction from locals. The situation worsened when the young man’s supporters intervened, leading to further violence.

In response, BNP leaders in Lalpur Union organized a protest rally, accusing "fascist forces" of attempting to destabilize the country and disrupt the peaceful Eid celebrations.

Police were quickly deployed to the area, and security measures were increased to prevent further unrest. Nine individuals were arrested during subsequent raids.
