42 Palestinians Killed in Latest Israeli Attack on Gaza
The death toll in Gaza continues to rise as Israeli airstrikes persist. In the most recent attack, 42 Palestinians were killed, and nearly 200 others were injured, pushing the total death toll to approximately 50,400 since the conflict began.
According to Anadolu news agency, the latest wave of violence took place on Tuesday (April 1) in the Gaza Strip, where at least 42 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes. Since October 2023, Israel's brutal assault on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 50,399 Palestinians.
A statement from Gaza’s Ministry of Health confirmed that in the past 24 hours, 183 more injured individuals have been taken to local hospitals, raising the total number of those wounded since the start of the violence to 114,583.
The ministry also reported that many people remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings and are lying injured on the streets, with rescue teams struggling to reach them due to the extent of the destruction.
According to health officials, Israeli airstrikes launched since March 18 have killed at least 1,042 Palestinians and injured over 2,500 others. These recent attacks have violated the ceasefire agreement established in January of this year, which had temporarily halted hostilities.
The United Nations reported that nearly 85% of Gaza’s population has been displaced by Israeli airstrikes, while 60% of the region’s infrastructure has been severely damaged or destroyed.
In November of the previous year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the ongoing violence in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel faces charges of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the besieged region.
After 15 months of ongoing conflict, Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19, which lasted for almost two months. However, in the third week of March, Israel resumed airstrikes following internal disagreements within Hamas over the issue of Israeli troop withdrawals.
