Dhaka, Apr 6 — The government has ordered that fairs, trade fairs, cultural programmes and billboard lights be shut by 7:00 pm to save electricity and energy.

The Cabinet Division on Monday sent a letter to all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners (DCs), asking them to implement the directive.

Earlier, the Power Division had written to the Cabinet Division in this regard.

According to the letter, the Prime Minister held a meeting with representatives of various business organisations on April 4.

Following requests from business leaders, the Prime Minister agreed to allow shopping malls, markets and shops to remain open until 7:00 pm.

The same closing time will apply to ongoing and upcoming fairs, trade fairs and cultural programmes across the country.

The letter also said that, as per the Prime Minister’s instructions, all billboard lights must be switched off by 7:00 pm.

Divisional commissioners and DCs have been asked to take necessary steps to ensure the directive is properly implemented. - UNB
