
BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman founded the organisation on September 9, 1978, with the aim of increasing women’s political awareness, protecting their rights and empowering them socially and politically.
As part of the anniversary programmes, the organisation’s leaders on Wednesday morning paid tribute at the graves Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi attended the programme as the chief guest.
Central leaders of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, leaders of Dhaka north and south city units, and leaders from various thanas and wards also participated in the programme.
To mark the founding anniversary, the organisation will bring out a colourful rally from in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan at 10am on Saturday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi will inaugurate the rally.
Meanwhile, following instructions from the central committee, all units of the organisation, including divisional, district, metropolitan, thana, municipality, union and ward units, have been asked to observe the day through rallies, discussion meetings and various social and organisational programmes on their own initiative.
Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas and General Secretary Sultana Ahmed, have urged leaders and activists at all levels of the organisation to make the anniversary programmes a success with due dignity, enthusiasm and festive spirit, reports UNB.
