Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Named BNP Acting Secretary General

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has been appointed acting secretary general of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The party announced the appointment in a notice signed by its joint office secretary, Mohammad Munir Hossain, on Thursday afternoon.
According to the notice, Rizvi, a member of the BNP National Standing Committee, has been appointed acting secretary general under Article 7(b)(6) of the party constitution. The appointment took effect immediately.
The announcement came shortly after BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected the country’s 23rd president on Thursday.
Rizvi’s appointment was announced following the formal declaration of the presidential election results, in which Fakhrul secured the highest number of votes.
