The local administration has imposed Section 144 around the Rashik Roy Jiu Temple in Auliapur, Thakurgaon, starting Thursday morning, in response to growing tensions in the area.

Md Khairul Islam, the Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), issued the emergency order on Wednesday, which will remain in effect from 6 pm Thursday until 12 am Friday.

The move follows a long-standing dispute between two groups of Hindu devotees over the ownership of temple land in Auliapur. The conflict dates back to September 18, 2009, when Phulbabu, a member of the Hindu community, was killed during a clash between the factions. In the aftermath, the local administration took control of the temple to restore order.

UNO Khairul stated that tensions have resurfaced between the two groups ahead of the Shib Puja, prompting concerns over potential violence. To prevent any disturbances and ensure public safety, Section 144 was imposed to maintain law and order in the area.
