Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury
“I urge people not to take the law into their own hands, and I expect the police to be more vigilant,” he stated to reporters after inaugurating the farmers’ cool house initiative and the farmers’ mobile app, developed by the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), at the Horticulture Centre in Rajalakh, Savar.
The Home Adviser assured that law enforcement agencies, including the police, are working in coordination to ensure public safety and prevent vigilantism.
Jahangir Alam also emphasized the importance of increased vigilance, particularly in the early hours when criminal activity is more prevalent. He shared that he personally monitored the law-and-order situation in the capital earlier in the morning.
He addressed concerns over unrest among garment workers in the Ashulia industrial zone, noting that the situation had been resolved, and there was no longer any widespread discontent.
In an effort to ensure continued safety, the army has been deployed alongside police forces in Ashulia, Savar, and Dhamrai areas.
The Home Adviser also highlighted the government's commitment to protecting agricultural lands and announced an increase in patrols due to the deteriorating law and order situation.
Agriculture Secretary Dr. Md Emdad Ullah Mia and senior officials from various government departments and law enforcement agencies were present at the event.
