Bangladeshi citizens will now be required to obtain a transit visa before travelling through Egypt, according to an announcement from the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Dhaka.

The decision follows updated immigration instructions issued by Egyptian authorities, introducing revised protocols for transit passengers using the country as a stopover point.

In an official notice, the embassy stated that all eligible travellers must secure their transit visas in advance through the Egyptian Embassy in Dhaka before beginning their journey. Applicants are required to hold a valid passport and, where applicable, a valid visa or residence permit for their final destination.

The requirement applies specifically to passengers transiting through Egypt en route to another country. Entry approval will remain subject to Egypt’s national immigration rules, including compliance with any entry restriction lists.

To prevent travel disruptions or delays at airports, the embassy has advised Bangladeshi passengers to complete all visa procedures ahead of their travel date.

For further information regarding the application process, travellers have been asked to contact the consular section of the embassy.
