
The Cardiac Centre if Islami Bank Hospital observed World Heart Day on Tuesday 29 September 2029.
Marking World Heart Day 2026 with the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat,” Islami Bank Hospital & Cardiac Center, Mirpur, organized a rally and discussion meeting to raise awareness about heart health. The rally started from the premises of Islami Bank Hospital & Cardiac Center, Mirpur, on Tuesday morning, September 29, 2026. Following the rally, a discussion meeting on heart disease prevention and healthy living was held at the hospital auditorium.
Mohammad Zahir Hussain, Chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC and Islami Bank Foundation attended the programme as the chief guest. Members of Islami Bank Foundation Md. Habibur Rahman, K.M. Munirul Alam Al-Mamoon, Executive Director of IBF and Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Deputy General Manager were present as special guests. Professor Dr. Khorshed Ali Mia, PhD, Director of Islami Bank Hospital & Cardiac Center, Mirpur, chaired the programme.
Dr. Rahmatullah Asif, Dr. Soumen Chakraborty, Dr. Sakif Shahriar and Dr. Motiur Rahman; Chief Coordinator and Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Md. Sakhawat Hossain Shakil; and Chief Cardiac Surgeon Dr. S. M. Zakir Khaled along with Officials and employees from different levels of the hospital also participated in the programme.
In his speech as the chief guest, Mohammad Zahir Hussain said that there is no alternative to awareness in preventing heart disease. Alongside maintaining a healthy and balanced diet, people need to give importance to regular physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle to keep their hearts healthy. To reduce the risk of heart disease, individual awareness, regular health check-ups and necessary lifestyle changes are essential.
He said hospitals have an important role to play not only in treating heart disease but also in providing preventive healthcare and increasing public awareness. In this regard, Islami Bank Hospital & Cardiac Center must ensure quality and compassionate services for patients. He urged the hospital’s officials and employees to work with sincerity, dedication and responsibility in their respective positions to maintain the hospital’s reputation and quality of services.
At the discussion meeting, speakers emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, a balanced and nutritious diet, regular physical activity, avoiding smoking and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of heart disease. They also stressed the importance of increasing awareness about the symptoms of heart disease and seeking medical advice promptly when necessary. – Press release
