Bangladesh Reports 5 More Suspected Measles Deaths

Bangladesh reported five more suspected measles deaths in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Monday, raising the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 825, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

All five latest fatalities were classified as suspected measles deaths.

With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has increased to 730, while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remains 95.

The DGHS also reported 992 new suspected measles cases during the reporting period, taking the nationwide total to 124,745.

Meanwhile, 113 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed infections to 15,555.

Since 15 March, a total of 107,654 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country. Of them, 103,467 have recovered, according to DGHS data
