Police arrested three individuals and seized 45,900 yaba pills in a major drug bust in the capital’s Jatrabari area on Thursday.
At around 10:20 am, the Dhanmondi Zonal Team of the DB-Ramna Division conducted a special operation based on intelligence reports about drug traffickers heading toward Rayerbag under the Jatrabari Police Station. The operation led to the establishment of a checkpoint on the south side of the foot overbridge in the Rayerbag area on Dhaka-Chittagong Road. The police successfully apprehended the three suspects and recovered the yaba tablets from the bus.
The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at Tk 92.4 lakh, Talebur added.
During initial interrogation, the suspects admitted to sourcing the yaba tablets from Cox’s Bazar and distributing them to various drug dealers in Dhaka and its surrounding areas.
