Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday extended his greetings to the people of Bangladesh and the Muslim Ummah worldwide on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Qadr (Lailatul Qadr), which will be observed tonight.

In his message, Prof Yunus emphasized the significance of this sacred night, stating, "Lailatul Qadr is a blessed and glorious night. On this night of the holy month of Ramadan, the Holy Quran, the eternal guide for humanity, was revealed to the world."

He quoted the divine revelation: “Surely, I have revealed it (the Quran) on the night of Qadr, and this night is better than a thousand months,” underscoring that acts of worship on this night hold greater value than those performed over a thousand months.

Prof Yunus reflected on the abundant mercy and blessings that this night brings, urging individuals to engage in worship and devotion to draw closer to Allah and seek His forgiveness.

He also prayed for the strength to contribute to human welfare and nation-building, while steering clear of injustice, lawlessness, violence, and superstition.

"On this auspicious night, I pray to Almighty Allah for His forgiveness, and for the continued progress, peace, prosperity, and welfare of our beloved motherland and the entire Muslim Ummah," he added.

Shab-e-Qadr, observed on the 27th night of Ramadan, holds deep significance in Islam, with Muslims around the world spending the night in prayer, Quranic recitation, and seeking Allah's blessings, as it marks the moment the Quran was revealed.
