The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested two women with five kg of ganja from the Shapla Chattar intersection area of Rangpur city on Tuesday night.

The arrestees are Jaba Begum, 40, of Mirzapur Madanpur village under Sherpur upazila and Nazma Begum, 41, of Mokamtala Biharpur village under Shibganj upazila of Bogura district, said a press release.

Necessary legal action has been taken in this incident.

In this regard, RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud said that their stance against drugs is zero tolerance.

"Intelligence surveillance and special operations have been further strengthened against drug dealers, suppliers and patrons," he said.

The RpMP's campaign to build a drug-free and safe Rangpur metropolis will continue, reports BSS.

"We are working relentlessly to build a crime-free Rangpur metropolis with the cooperation of the public," he said.
