Members of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested two alleged drug traffickers along with 14 kg of hemp in Chapainawabganj early Friday.

The arrestees were identified as Nasir, 46, of the Char Islampur area in Sadar upazila, and Matin, 20, of the Natun Barorshia area in Shibganj upazila.

Deputy Director of the DNC's Chapainawabganj office Chowdhury Imrul Hasan said a DNC team conducted a drive around 2:00am on the western side of Hatapara Mosque at Dwariapur in Sadar upazila.

During the operation, officials searched two bags and recovered 14 kg of hemp. The two suspects were arrested on the spot, he said.

During preliminary interrogation, the detainees revealed that the consignment was brought to Chapainawabganj from Cumilla, Imrul said, adding that a case was filed at Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station in this connection, reports UNB.
