Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulates BNP chairman Tarique Rahman..



Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also congratulated Tarique Rahman on "leading the BNP to a resounding victory" in the elections.

"I look forward to working closely with the new Bangladesh leadership to further strengthen our historic, brotherly multifaceted bilateral relations and advance our shared goals of peace, stability, and development in South Asia and beyond," he wrote on X.

Bangladesh and Pakistan developed closer ties following Sheikh Hasina’s fall.

At the end of last month, a commercial flight operated from Dhaka to Karachi, marking the first direct connection between the two nations in 14 years.

Several months earlier, Pakistan’s foreign minister visited Dhaka for the first time in 13 years.

Besides, senior military officials from both countries held bilateral meetings on security cooperation, and trade between them grew by 27% in 2024-25, reports BBC. - UNB
