Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, briefed reporters after the meeting, describing it as highly successful. He characterized the talks as comprehensive, constructive, and warm, underscoring the positive tone of the discussions.
During the meeting, President Xi reaffirmed China’s support for the Chief Adviser and his Interim Government. "This was Professor Yunus's first foreign bilateral visit, and it has been a grand success so far," Alam said.
The press secretary further noted that China would give favorable consideration to several important matters raised by Bangladesh, including the reduction of interest rates on Chinese loans and enhanced cooperation on water resource management.
Additionally, Alam shared that President Xi reflected on his two visits to Bangladesh, recalling his interest in microcredit, which he studied during his time as the governor of Fujian province. Xi also fondly mentioned his enjoyment of Bangladeshi mangoes and jackfruit, describing them as "delicious."
As a result of this growing connection, Bangladesh is expected to significantly increase its exports of these two fruits to China in the coming months.
