Road Crash Claims Four Lives of a Family in Mymensingh

A tragic road accident on Sunday morning claimed the lives of four family members, including a 95-year-old woman, her daughter, and two granddaughters, after a passenger bus collided with their auto-rickshaw in the Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh.


The victims have been identified as Kulsuma Begum, 95, the wife of Obaidur Rahman, from Durbachar village in Bhangnamari union; her daughter, Dilruba, 40, wife of Manik Mia; and her granddaughters, Riti, 14, and Priti, 7.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:30 am on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway near the Chandrapara area in Gouripur Upazila. According to Mirza Mazaharul Anwar, Officer-in-Charge of Gouripur Police Station, a bus traveling from Mymensingh to Kishoreganj collided with the auto-rickshaw, resulting in the death of three passengers on the spot, with three others sustaining injuries.

Locals rushed to the scene to assist the injured, transporting them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Tragically, despite efforts to save them, one more victim was declared dead upon arrival.

The injured, Shyamoli, 20, wife of Nazrul Islam, and Mahi, another granddaughter of Kulsuma Begum, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, while community members mourn the heartbreaking loss.
