Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called for China to take a more active role in fostering peace, prosperity, and stability for both nations. His remarks came during bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing this morning.

Opening his speech, Prof Yunus extended heartfelt greetings from Bangladesh to President Xi, emphasizing the ongoing commitment between the two nations. He reflected on Bangladesh's July uprising, noting its role in shaping the nation's progress towards a "New Bangladesh."

Prof Yunus also highlighted his long-standing ties with China, particularly in the introduction of Grameen Bank and social business initiatives there.

A significant topic discussed was the Rohingya crisis, with Prof Yunus urging China to play a key role in ensuring the safe and dignified return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.

Following the meeting, Prof Yunus will participate in an "Investment Dialogue" with Chinese business leaders at The Presidential Beijing. The event aims to showcase Bangladesh's business-friendly environment and attract Chinese investment.

Additionally, Prof Yunus will join three roundtable discussions covering topics such as sustainable infrastructure, Bangladesh’s manufacturing and market opportunities, and social business with a focus on youth entrepreneurship.

Prof Yunus’ four-day visit to China also includes a dinner hosted by the Bangladesh Ambassador to China.

Accompanying the Chief Adviser are Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Energy and Transport Advisers Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, High Representative Khalilur Rahman, Principal Coordinator for SDGs Lamiya Morshed, and Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
