Nepalese Envoy meets Commerce Adviser

During the meeting, they discussed in details about increasing the trade volume between the two countries,  power supply, boosting connectivity and about the Nepal Economic Summit.

The Commerce Adviser said that connectivity needs to be enhanced for ensuring the economic development of the two countries, said a Commerce Ministry press release.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is interested in working on a long-term plan to ensure strategic partnership, Bashir mentioned that both the countries would benefit from increasing the trade volume of the two countries, reports BSS.

Describing the relationship of Nepal with Bangladesh as ‘historical’ and ‘excellent’, the Nepalese Ambassador said that Nepal imports agricultural products from Bangladesh.

Bangladesh signed a tripartite agreement with India and Nepal on October 3 last year to import electricity from Nepal. Under the agreement, Bangladesh will receive 40 MW of electricity from Nepal via India for five months from June to November,  2025.

At the same time, Ghanshyam Bhandari expressed his hope that the volume of electricity exports would increase in future.

At the meeting, the Nepalese Ambassador handed over an invitation to Commerce Adviser to participate in the Nepal Economic Summit to be held in Nepal.

Commerce Secretary (Routine Charge) Md. Abdur Rahim Khan and Additional Secretary (FTA) Ayesha Akhter were present on the occasion.
