State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on Thursday met with Lord Hussain and Imran Hussain MP, members of the UK Parliament’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Bangladesh, at the Bangladesh High Commission in London.

They exchanged views on strengthening Bangladesh-UK relations through parliamentary diplomacy, expanding trade and investment, and fostering greater people-to-people connectivity.

The State Minister outlined the government’s key priorities in social development, healthcare, education and energy, underscoring its commitment to equal rights, religious harmony and inclusive, sustainable development.

The parliamentarians welcomed Bangladesh’s democratic transition and expressed their aspirations for a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive future for the country.

Both sides also underscored the importance of sustained international support towards resolving the Rohingya crisis and ensuring the safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation of Rohingya to Myanmar.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom and advancing mutually beneficial cooperation across areas of common interest, reports UNB.
