IPU Secretary General Anda Filip leaves Dhaka

Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Anda Filip left Dhaka today after concluding her visit to Bangladesh.


Filip arrived in Dhaka on August 30 and during her visit held meetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikrom, Leader of the Opposition Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed, women parliamentarians and politically persecuted parliamentarians.

During the meetings, she emphasized democratic reconstruction in Bangladesh and the expansion of cordial relations among parliamentarians, reports BSS.

As part of her visit, the IPU Secretary General visited the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, said a press release of parliament secretariat.

Additional Secretary of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat and relevant officials of the Secretariat saw her off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) today.
