Dhaka, Islamabad keen to expand bilateral trade

Bangladesh and Pakistan have expressed their interest in strengthening mutual cooperation in industrial sector and working together to expand bilateral trade.


Both countries’ issue of interest came when Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Imran Haider met Industries Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir at his office here today.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to mutual interests, including bilateral trade and investment and increasing cooperation in the industrial sector.

Muktadir said there is an opportunity for joint initiatives in the industrial sector between the two countries to further enhance the existing trade relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. 

He especially put emphasis on increasing cooperation in the sugar, textile, pharmaceutical industry and leather sectors.
The Pakistan envoy praised the progress of Bangladesh's industrial sector and investment-friendly environment, and expressed his interest in encouraging Pakistani entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh. 

He stressed increasing communication and partnership between businessmen of the two countries.

Among others, Industries Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman and senior officials of the ministry and the Pakistan High Commission were present, reports BSS.
