Miraz urges young cricketers to dream big for success

Dhaka, 27 Sept —Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has urged young cricketers taking part in the Third Division Cricket Qualifiers to dream of representing the national team, reflecting on his own journey through the Dhaka League.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the competition at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today, Miraz recalled how his cricketing career began in 2009 with age-group cricket.

“I started playing cricket in 2009. At that time, I was playing for the Bangladesh Under-15 team. That’s where it all started for me. I played for CCS,” Miraz said.

He said the qualifiers gave him the opportunity to progress through every level of the Dhaka League—from the qualifiers and Third Division to the Second Division, First Division and Premier League.

“I have been fortunate to play in every league,” he added.

Miraz welcomed the return of the Third Division Qualifiers after a lengthy break and credited the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for reviving the competition.

“It feels great that the qualifiers are starting again after such a long time. At one point, we thought the competition might not take place. But now it is starting again,” he remarked.

The all rounder also highlighted the opportunity for players from different parts of Bangladesh to meet, compete and exchange experiences. 

He recalled making friends with cricketers from different regions while progressing through the Dhaka League and said players from places including Rangpur, Sylhet, Khulna and Bogra would now have the opportunity to share the same experience.

“Players from different places will come, share rooms, exchange experiences before matches and discuss how to play. I think you will also experience this atmosphere, and it will create enthusiasm within you,” Miraz said.

He hoped that the competition would produce future Bangladesh national team players.

“I think many players will emerge from among you who will lead the next generation of Bangladesh,” he concluded.BSS
