A court has set May 5 for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit its further investigation report in the high-profile murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order after the investigation agency failed to submit the report on the scheduled date.

Earlier, on January 15, 2026, the court ordered a further probe after the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the initial investigation and filed a naraji petition against the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police, seeking additional investigation.

DB Inspector Foysal Ahmed submitted the charge sheet on January 6, accusing 17 individuals, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents, Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.

According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on December 12, 2025, and fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14.

Later, on December 20, a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code after Hadi died on December 18, upgrading the case from attempted murder to murder.
