NGO worker killed in Dinajpur road crash

An NGO worker was killed after being run over by a truck while riding a bicycle in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur on Saturday evening.


The deceased, Ripon Chandra Sarker, was the son of Shyamal Chandra Sarker of Kumariarpara area under Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district. He worked as a credit officer at the Birganj branch of NGO Caritas.

The accident occurred in front of Josna Filling Station in Sujalpur union on the Dinajpur–Thakurgaon highway when a truck hit his bicycle, leaving him dead on the spot, reports UNB.

Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Birganj Police Station, said the truck driver and helper managed to flee the scene.

Police later seized the truck, and the body was handed over to the Highway Police for further procedures.
