Regional escalation widens as Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain report Iranian attacks

In Kuwait, the army says it is responding to what it describes as hostile drone attacks following the latest Iranian action. Authorities say explosions being heard in the country are the result of air-defence systems intercepting incoming drones, and they are urging people to follow safety and security instructions.

In Jordan, the army says 13 missiles entered the kingdom’s airspace. According to the military, 10 were intercepted, while three penetrated the country’s airspace and landed in remote areas, away from population centres.

In Bahrain, authorities are also urging people to take shelter after Iran said it launched what it described as a large-scale drone attack on Sheikh Isa Air Base. Iran says the attack targeted radar installations and areas where American forces were gathered.

Taken together, the developments point to a significant widening of the conflict, with attacks or attempted attacks now being reported across multiple countries and growing concern that the fighting could spill far beyond Iran’s borders.
