CA Urges Stronger Regional Ties to Tackle Climate Challenges
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today called for strengthened regional cooperation to confront the escalating climate and urban challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region.
He delivered the message via video at the opening session of the 81st Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok.
In his remarks, Prof Yunus underscored Bangladesh’s commitment to inclusive, climate-resilient urban development, highlighting the country's reform journey and its "Three Zero Vision"—zero wealth concentration, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions.
He also urged Asia-Pacific nations to harness youth potential and innovation in shaping a sustainable future.
The session, themed “Regional Cooperation for Resilient and Sustainable Urban Development in Asia and the Pacific,” brings together 53 member states and nine associate members.
Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant (State Minister Rank) to the Chief Adviser, is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the week-long event.
