Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has signed MOU with 25 Public and Private Universities to strengthen linkage between academia and professionals of accountancy education and careers.

The signing ceremony was held today at the ICAB Auditorium, CA Bhaban, in the capital, said a ICAB press release.

Representatives of the universities and institutions participated in the ceremony and signed their respective addenda to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with ICAB.

The initiative will create greater opportunities for university students and graduates aspiring to pursue professional accountancy education and careers, the release said.

Under the enhanced collaboration, ICAB and the participating universities will work together to attract meritorious graduates and post-graduates to the Chartered Accountancy (CA) profession by facilitating Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) and exemptions in relevant papers of the CA programme, where applicable.

It’s expected to provide eligible graduates with a faster pathway towards acquiring the professional CA qualification.

At the same time, the collaboration will create opportunities for partly qualified and qualified ICAB members to pursue university degrees and/or higher education and research programmes.

This two-way academic and professional engagement is expected to contribute to enhancing the quality of accounting and finance education in both the professional and academic spheres.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, ICAB emphasized that closer cooperation between the accountancy profession and universities is essential for developing competent, ethical and future-ready professionals who can contribute to the country effectively.

The participating institutions will also explore opportunities for joint research, academic collaboration and knowledge exchange, while encouraging greater interaction among students, teachers, accounting professionals and other stakeholders.

President of ICAB Sabbir Ahmed, Vice President Mohammad Redwanur Rahman and Director (Education & Examination) Masud Parvez and Chief Executive Officer Md. Quamruzzaman spoke on the occasion, reports BSS.
