BB, Islami Bank Sign Tk3,000cr Deal to Boost Farm Value Chain

Bangladesh Bank and Islami Bank Bangladesh have signed a Tk3,000 crore refinancing agreement aimed at strengthening the country’s agricultural value chain.

The scheme seeks to boost agricultural production, storage, processing and marketing, improve supply chains and create rural employment, with the broader goal of developing an effective and dynamic agricultural value chain.

The agreement was signed at Bangladesh Bank’s headquarters on Monday, August 31, 2026, in the presence of Deputy Governor Dr Md Kabir Ahmed and Chief Spokesperson and Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan.

Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Agricultural Credit Department-2 AKM Saiduzzaman and Islami Bank Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the Retail Investment Wing Abu Sayeed Md Idris exchanged the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Additional Directors of Bangladesh Bank Zainal Abedin and Sakhawat Hossain, along with Islami Bank’s Head of Agricultural Investment Division Md Aman Ullah and other executives and officials from both institutions, were present at the signing ceremony.
