Solo Exhibition by French Artist Flavien Martinel Opens at Alliance Française, Dhaka

Dhaka, 26 September 2026 —Alliance Française, Dhaka inaugurated Realms of Curiosity, a solo exhibition by French artist Flavien Martinel, at Galerie Zoom, Alliance Française de Dhaka, on 26 September 2026 at 5:30 PM. Bringing together a collection of 30 works shaped by the artist’s observations, emotions, memories and everyday experiences, the exhibition will remain open to visitors until 9 October 2026. 

The exhibition will conclude with a live concert by Flavien Martinel and his partner, Manmeet Kaur. As the two artists behind CITOPIR, their performance will bring together the visual and musical dimensions of their collaborative practice, offering audiences an opportunity to experience another facet of their artistic work through music, rap, image and live interaction.

The exhibition brings together selected works from Flavien Martinel’s existing body of work, offering audiences an insight into his artistic practice and the themes that have shaped his work over time. Alongside the exhibition, Flavien will undertake a month-long artistic residency in Dhaka, during which he will engage with the city and its surroundings, explore new ideas and develop his artistic practice while connecting with local audiences through creative activities, including a hands-on workshop.

Moving between places, states of mind and personal encounters, Flavien transforms lived moments into expressive compositions through drawing and painting. His works draw inspiration from a wide range of observations from news and events that challenge his beliefs to encounters with stray dogs, birds observed in their unattainable freedom, and quieter moments of boredom and introspection.

Through spontaneous brushwork and varied techniques, Realms of Curiosity explores the unexpected details of everyday life. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the artist’s inner landscape, where observation meets imagination and instinct meets technique. Rather than following a single narrative, the works invite viewers to move through different impressions, memories and fragments of experience.

Connecting Through Creative Practice

As part of his residency, Flavien is also conducting a Graffiti & 3D Lettering Workshop at Alliance Française de Dhaka on 25 and 26 September 2026.

The workshop introduces participants to the expressive possibilities of graffiti, lettering and calligraphy through hands-on experimentation. Participants explore graffiti basics and techniques, lettering and calligraphy, 3D effects, light and shadow, outlines and fills, while also rethinking alphabets and discovering creative ways to give letters meaning and personality.

The workshop reflects Flavien’s interest in experimentation and visual expression, creating a space where participants can explore graffiti not only as a technique but also as a form of communication and creative interpretation.

Through his month-long residency, exhibition and workshop, Flavien brings together artistic research, personal observation and creative exchange, offering audiences in Dhaka an opportunity to encounter his work while engaging directly with his artistic practice.
