Suraiya Akhter Jahan made DNCC Administrator
The government has appointed Suraiya Akhter Jahan, additional secretary of the Local Government Division, as the administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) following the completion of one-year contractual tenure of Mohammad Ejaz.
The Local Government Division under the Local Government , Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry, issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.
The notification said she has been given the responsibility under Section 25 A(1) of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024
As administrator, Surayya Akhtar will exercise the powers and perform the duties of the DNCC mayor under further order in line with Section 25A(3) of the ordinance.
It may be mentioned that on February 12 last year, through a notification, Mohammad Ejaz was appointed on contractual basis as the full-time administrator of the Dhaka North City Corporation for one year, reports BSS.
As his stipulated tenure ended, Suraiya Akhter Jahan has been assigned the responsibility as the new Administrator.
