A man and his adult son were killed and another minor son was injured in a road accident on the Jamalpur-Sherpur road near Jamalpur town this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Delwar Mahmud, 50, and his son Istiak Ahmmed, 20, residents of Kenduar Char area under Sherpur Sadar upazila.

Senior Station Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Rabiul Islam said the three were travelling to Sherpur from Jamalpur town on a motorcycle. The bike was moving behind a truck. When the truck stopped at a police box on the southern end of the Brahmaputra bridge, the motorcycle attempted to overtake it.

At that moment, another truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the motorcycle, leaving Delwar and Istiak dead on the spot, reports BSS.

Abrar, 5, sustained injuries in the accident and was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital for treatment, the official added.
