
Three people, including a mother and her daughter, were killed in a head-on collision between a chicken-laden pickup van and a passenger CNG autorickshaw in Fulgazi upazila of Feni on Saturday evening.
Two others were injured in the accident.
The deceased were identified as CNG driver Mohammad Kawsar, 27, son of Abul Kalam of Uttar Sreepur village in Fulgazi upazila; Zakia Akhter, 42; and her daughter Wahida Akhter Jui, 20. Jui was the wife of Kazi Hayat of Pathannagar union in Chhagalnaiya upazila.
Locals said a passenger CNG autorickshaw travelling from Parshuram to Feni collided head-on with a pickup van carrying chickens coming from the opposite direction in front of the Fulgazi Rural Power Office on the Feni–Parshuram regional road at around 7 pm.
Kawsar and Wahida Akhter Jui died on the spot. Zakia Akhter and two others were rescued and taken to Feni General Hospital, where Zakia Akhter later died while undergoing treatment.
Feni Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam said the injured have been admitted to hospital and the bodies of the deceased have been kept at Fulgazi Upazila Health Complex.
He said an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway and legal action will be taken accordingly.
Fulgazi Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Mizanur Rahman said both vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, and legal procedures are in progress, reports UNB.
