A tragic accident left at least four people, including a child, dead today (Friday) following a three-way collision involving a bus, an autorickshaw and a motorcycle in Baniapara area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Daudkandi upazila of the district.

A fire broke out during the collision involving the three vehicles.

Officer-in-Charge of Daudkandi Highway Police Station Iqbal Bahar Majumdar said the fire likely originated from the motorcycle's fuel tank after the collision and quickly engulfed the bus, resulting in a severe fire.

Fire officials arrived at the scene promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control.

“The bodies of four individuals, including a child, have been recovered from the scene,” Majumdar said, adding, “Efforts are underway to identify the victims, and the exact cause of the accident is under investigation.”

The incident caused temporary disruption to traffic on the busy highway, which later resumed normal flow following police intervention, reports BSS.
