Two people, including a truck driver and his helper, were killed in a road accident at Shibganj upazila of the district early today.

The deceased were identified as Minhaj, 35, a truck driver, and his helper Imran, 26. Both hailed from Patalkandi village under Bhuapur upazila in Tangail district.

The accident occurred around 5:30 am in the Pakurtala area on the Rangpur-Bogura highway when a stone-laden truck hit another stationary truck from behind after the driver lost control over the steering, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kunderhat Highway Police Station Hafizur Rahman.

Driver Minhaj died on the spot, while helper Imran sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later, reports BSS.

Legal steps are being taken in this connection, the OC added.
