Two women killed as truck hits them in Purbachal

A woman and her mother-in-law were killed after a speeding truck hit them while they were crossing the road in 300-feet area of Purbachal in the capital on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as- Afrozah Akter Shanta, 28, wife of police sub-inspector Mehedi Hasan, and her mother-in-law.
The accident occurred around 10:00 pm, police and local sources said.
They were initially taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where doctors declared the mother-in-law dead.
Shanta was later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment but died at around 3:30am while undergoing treatment at the One-Stop Emergency Centre (OSEC).
DMCH Police Camp Inspector Habibur Rahman said Shanta's body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy and the matter was reported to the concerned police station.
The mother-in-law's body was handed over to her family without an autopsy, reports BSS.
