Two friends were killed on Sunday when their motorcycle collided head-on with a microbus on the Rangpur-Dinajpur Highway in the Thakurpara area of Paglapir in Rangpur.

The deceased were identified as Surjo Roy, 19, son of Lalmon Roy of Bachurbanda village under Ikorchali union in Taragonj upazila, and Gaddu Roy, 18, son of Podar Roy of Sholeyashah Lalchandpur village.

Eyewitnesses said Surjo and Gaddu were traveling from Sholeyashah Bazar toward Paglapir on a motorcycle around 1 pm, with Surjo riding and Gaddu on the pillion.

When they reached Thakurpara at around 2 pm, a microbus coming from the opposite direction crashed head-on into their motorcycle, critically injuring them.

Locals took them toward Rangpur Medical College Hospital, but they both succumbed to their injuries on the way, reports UNB.

Mostafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Taraganj Highway Police Station, said the families had taken the bodies home.

Efforts are underway to identify the microbus and take further action, he added.
