Truck-motorcycle collision killed three in Bagerhat

A tragic head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle on the Khulna-Mongla highway in the district claimed the lives of three people this morning.


The accident occurred around 9.15 am in Bhatt Baliaghata area under Khanpur of Sadar upazila. 

According to police and eyewitnesses, a Khulna-bound motorcycle carrying three passengers collided head-on with a Mongla-bound truck.

Motorcycle rider Kader Faraji, 50, a resident of Bhabana area in Fakirhat upazila, died on the spot. The two other passengers, identified as Bahadur Sikder, 45, a ship driver working at Mongla Port and a resident of Morelganj upazila and Monir Hossain, 48, from the same area, were critically injured in the crash.

Locals and rescue workers rushed the injured to Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared the duo dead, reports BSS.

Katakhali Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zafar Ahmed confirmed the matter and said the bodies were sent to the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, and legal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the incident.
