A new low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around October 23 and may intensify, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

A low-pressure area is currently located over the southwest Bay of Bengal, off the coast of Tamil Nadu, while a trough extends over the North Bay, the BMD said in a bulletin issued on Wednesday evening.

The forecast, valid from 6pm on Wednesday for the subsequent period, said weather across the country may remain mainly dry, with temporary partly cloudy skies.
